Our Programs

Chadhar Challenge

Our signature school program that transforms the traditional one-day clean-up campaign into a structured competition on waste collection, segregation, creative upcycling and community advocacy. Schools compete at Senior and Junior levels, with students presenting innovations such as raincoats made from plastic wrappers, handmade paper from waste, and drinking glasses made from discarded bottles.
Highlight: 8 schools, 322 certificates and Nu. 50,000 in prizes awarded in the 2025 edition.

GreenGenius Hackathon

An innovation challenge that invites high school students, college forums and Gewog communities to design practical, action-oriented solutions to local waste problems. Winning ideas receive recognition, prize money and follow-up mentorship.
Highlight: Held for Gewogs (2024), high schools and Sherubtse College forums (2025).

Educational Workshops on Sustainable Waste Management

nteractive workshops for schools and communities on waste segregation, the economic value of recyclables, and the environmental impact of open burning and dumping. Community sessions are delivered in Sharshopkha and conclude with locally owned action plans.
Highlight: 243 community members across six Gewogs and 592 students reached in 2025.

Nge Chagney: My Waste, My Responsibility

An immersive, multi-day youth workshop combining landfill visits, hands-on waste collection and creative projects. Participants leave as pledged "guardians of change" in their schools and villages.
Highlight: A symbolic waste tower built by youth now stands at the EcoVation Centre.

Waste Buy-Back Program

A community waste-trading model through which households, schools and institutions sell recyclable waste to EcoVation, creating supplementary household income while keeping plastics out of rivers, forests and open spaces.
Highlight: 1,620 kg of plastic waste purchased from six Gewogs in a single collection drive.

Recycling and Eco-Products

At the EcoVation Centre, collected plastics are sorted, shredded and processed into durable products such as eco-lumber, fencing poles, eco-bricks, coasters, eco-pencils and 3D printer filament.
Highlight: Equipped with a shredder, extruder, baler and 3D printing capability.

Last Mile Zero Waste Mission

Our newest initiative, bringing awareness, waste recovery and training in locally managed disposal to remote and roadless villages that remain outside formal waste services.
Highlight: Rolling out in at least four remote villages from 2026.
